The 12 days of Christmas: Muhlestein Family Edition Installment 3

Jordan & Company
Jordan is my eldest brother. He is a great guy. He has the uncanny ability to make every person on the planet like him. In English a few weeks ago, we were discussing how a person who was loved by one was hated by another. A boy asserted that he knew of no person who didn’t like Bill Cosby. He had a decent point. Now that I think about it, you could say the same of Jordan. Also, he knows better than most others, real men don’t need tents; they use hammocks.

Back in ’05, Jordan married Crystal. My first impression of Crystal was skeptical, but she really grew on me. She is the one of my siblings who can see adolescent life for what it really is, inform said adolescent about it, and not spoil the fun of being young and stupid. It is really amazing. Plus, I have never met someone who can make more, or better, desserts. Ever.

Those two studs hatched 3 adorable babies. Clara, Lucas, and Will. Clara is an all-around party animal. She can sing most Taylor Swift songs, whip my trash at a game of Just Dance, and has probably the best hair of any 5 year old I have ever met. Lucas has the amazing ability to remember things. He can watch cars, and for any car that speaks a line, he can give a make, model, and short explanation. It is amazing. Will is just strait adorable. When Will comes over, I am usually half asleep on the couch, and he comes up to me and in the most adorable voice ever, says “George, come downstairs”

He then follows to grab my arm and try with gusto to pull me off the couch. After the playing is over, he will ask me to “guess what”, I then say what, and he just walks off. He is just cute.

The 12 days of Christmas: Muhlestein Family Edition Installment 2

Today is Daddy. Here it goes.

Daddy, as his name suggests, is my father. He is just an all around stud. Last week in American History, we talked about the structure of the family in the 1830's. The teacher talked about how the women would make the food, do the laundry, make the clothes, do basically everything. The men, more specifically the father, would go out, earn money for the family, give it to his wife, and lounge around for the rest of the day. He then asserted that the situation lives on to this day, as his wife said that she will not shed a tear the day her father passes away. This got me thinking what the heck is this lady thinking? My father does go to work, but when he comes home, he doesn't lounge around. He asks his wife for a job, he talks to his children, he does more work. He will only sit down and watch something if it is BYU sports, or general conference. I honestly don't know what she was thinking.

Daddy is also the ultimate comforter. Whether you need it or not. When I was in elementary school, where you had late start every day, I would go to scriptures at an unearthly hour every morning, and then daddy would stand up and say "I am going to sleep a little longer. You are all welcome to come and snuggle with me".

It was often that he would have four children in his bed with him. Even when his children just want to do something with him. For example, he once took planned two weeks in advance to take Mary hiking, just because she wanted to. He took me camping once, and was going to take me sooner than we went, but there was a rain storm inhibiting flight out of Dallas, and he called and sadly delivered the news. I felt sad that I wasn't going camping, but I felt my father's love.

Whenever Tanner and I get it a massive fight, Daddy usually uses his superior strength and ability to contort peoples bodies in strange ways to separate us, then he just lays next to us and hugs us tightly until we calm down. It is very calming.

Daddy is also the best example I can think of of a good priesthood holder. For as long as I remember, Daddy has insisted upon going to church if at all possible, even in the dead of China. If his children, or anyone for that matter, ever ask him for a blessing, he asks why so he knows what to bless you for, but doesn't question it. He knows that he holds the priesthood and it is his duty to share it with his family. One role of a priesthood bearing father is to raise his children in righteousness. He does that. He has diligently taught and still teaches 11 children the ways of doing right and wrong, and he has never been faulty in his judgement. He is the power house of advice. Overall, Daddy is the type of man that every father should aspire to be.

The 12 days of Christmas: Muhlestein Family Edition Installment 1

A few minutes ago, I decided that I was going to make a series of 12 posts dedicated to members of my family. It will go in this order: Mother, Daddy, Jordan & Company, David & Company, Joseph & Company, Michael & Company, Kathryn (& the lack of company), Elisabeth & Company, Christina, Morgan, Tanner, and Mary. Here goes day #1

Mother: The Master of Perseverance

Mother, as her name suggests, is my mother. Along with that title, she is referred to as a sister, wife, grandmother, and neighbor. Mother is the ultimate example of what every person wants to be.

When I went on Trek, my Ma (a different person) came to me and said that her mother was putting on a dinner for the stake, and Mother was asked to bring 24 lasagnas. On the day of the dinner, Mother showed up with a smile on her face, a skip in her step, and 24 lasagnas made from scratch. 24 full sized lasagnas. Made from scratch. Just let that sink in.

Mother also has a wonderful sense of humor. A few weeks ago, I was discussing the hippie movement with my math teacher. I found that she once had a store in St. George called "Leather-Wood", which was so hippie it even had an isle devoted to incense. She told of how for a few months, she would let her friends sleep in the store because the commune had closed down. I went home and told Mother "Mother, I have decided to join the local commune."

She then, with a completely strait face, looked at the kitchen, the living room, and out the back window, and said "Maybe I'll come too."

Mother is also the ultimate, for lack of a better word, mother. For as long as I remember, Mother has been encouraging me to do my best, making food every day, and providing me with someone to talk to. She is always checking up on her children making sure they are doing well. She is a wonderful example of what a disciple of God is. She has a testimony and is always willing to share it, to anyone anywhere. I can honestly say that there is no difference in saying "I'm trying to be like Jesus" or "I'm trying to be like Mother".

Well...

So I haven't updated my blog in a while, and I can't really think of anything interesting to blog about. So, I will just write about my recent life.
I have recently found a love for hiking. I go up North Canyon, find cool stuff, build fires, use my binoculars, see moose, step in the droppings thereof, and many other adventurous things.
FOUR NEWS! whatever that is.
The spot of bright lights in the top right is Ogden. This was taken south of Mueller Park Canyon on the pipeline.
I found that on the bottom of my foot.
For Mutual the other week, we went to the church history museum. Here is my posse in the ship bed.
I also found that I still enjoy swinging. After Thursday night, not so much.
It kind of gave out on me.
Here is broken and damaged George.
A fox has been brutally slaying both mine and the neighbors chickens recently. I have been commissioned by both parties to try and trap it. I have seen it a few times, and it is a big one, about 4 feet long. It has been hard to trick the fox into any trap. It has escaped every one of them I have set.
This is the closest picture that I could find.
This is trap A. It didn't work.
This is trap B. It didn't work either.
I ate this cactus.
It tasted like a cucumber mixed with okra.

My seminary class is a ball. It has all sorts of fun people in it, and Bro. Vasas is a laugh riot. Sadly, because he is a stickler for the rules (code for wet blanket), I couldn't take any pictures in his class. Even so, we do weird things like discuss how Asian someones hypothetical boyfriend is, what fruit you ate in the shower, if you have ever changed your shirt while driving, trains being your favorite car, and your least favorite number. Sounds like a truck load of fun you just have to be a part of!     If Travis, then swag.

Day at the Range!

On March 2, I went to the Bountiful Lions Club Shooting Range. I went because I needed to get the Rifle Shooting Merit badge. The counselor told me that I could bring my own gun, and then some. So, I brought my .22 because I was sure of how well sighted in it was. I also shot the thing prone, and was very successful. I finished with flying colors in the first 10 minutes. Then, seeing my success, another scout asked if he could get the Merit Badge using my gun. I, being my kind and charitable self, decided to lend it to him. I then realized how good of an idea that was. The counselor brought tons of other guns that he let me shoot. I took pictures some, and other I just found online somewhere.
This is a custom .22 that the counselor built.

This is the AR-15. It is the civilian model of the M16.

This is the .357 Magnum.

This is a S&W .44 Magnum. It is the second largest pistol in the world, and I shot it one handed. (:

The one on the top is a Browning Buckmark .22 pistol. On the bottom is a Walther P22 pistol, and yes it has a silencer.
This is a Kimber 1911. It shoots a .45 ACP round.

This is the Springfield XD in .40.
This is a banana pudding I made.

Virgil the Hippie Snowman

I was bored yesterday, so I built this snowman. I named him Virgil because I like the name. When I have children, and my wife authorizes the naming of my son Virgil, I will be showing him this as soon as possible after he would think it was funny. Since the chances of that are pretty slim, I will just name the snowman Virgil. I also put on a peace sign to make him look more hip. So, take it for what it is worth.
Later, yesterday, when Tanner was bored, he shot it with my pellet gun. This is what remains. Just shows the demise of the hippies.

My Life

This is kind of inspired by Tanner's Post, so I will do it in the same format as his.
First, I will do a list of interesting events of 2012
  1. I shaved a good 12 seconds off my 100 time, and 8 seconds off my 50 time (swimming)
  2. I bought a .30-06
  3. I (kinda) learned to snowboard
  4. I learned to drive
  5. I became addicted to paracord.
That sums up interesting events. Now for pictures.
This is a picture of my friend Hiwa (pronounced Hiva) pulling a lane line.
This is my posse at a bowling ally. You will notice the weird light from a black light.
I will add more later, but for now you will have to cope.
And by the way, Jolo is in my English and Science classes.
